Pan mae anghenfil newydd yn ymuno gan greu helbul yn yr ysgol, dydi’r athrawon ddim cweit yn siŵr beth i’w wneud. Mae o’n swnllyd, yn aflonyddgar, yn amhosib i’w reoli ac mae’n gyrru ‘Miss’ o’i cho!
Un diwrnod, mae’r cyfan yn mynd yn ormod, ac mae ‘Syr’ wedi cyrraedd pen ei dennyn. Yn fuan wedyn, mae arwydd ‘Dim Bwystfilod’ yn ymddangos ac mae’r ‘bwystfil’ yn cael ei yrru ymaith o’r ysgol.
Mi fasech chi’n tybio y byddai’r ysgol yn lle hapusach heb y bwystfil direidus, ond wyddoch chi be? Mae’r lle yn llawer tlotach hebddo ac i ddweud y gwir, yn reit ddiflas. Cyn bo hir, mae’r staff a’r plant yn hiraethu gymaint am ei gael yn ôl, maen nhw’n mynd ati i drio ei berswadio i ddychwelyd.
Ar un llaw, gallwch darllen y stori gan gredu bod yna fwystfil go iawn yn carlamu drwy’r coridorau, ond hefyd, mae’r bwystfil yn gweithio fel trosiad ar gyfer unigolion sydd efallai yn dysgu mewn ffyrdd gwahanol i eraill.
Beth sy’n rhaid cofio yw bod gan bawb hawl i gael addysg ac mae ‘na groeso i bob plentyn, beth bynnag eu gallu neu anghenion. Mae gan bawb gryfderau gwahanol, ac mae ymdrech, cwrteisi a charedigrwydd yn rinweddau gwerthfawr iawn – nid yw gallu academaidd yn bopeth.
Mae ‘na ddigon o hiwmor (bwystfil yn crafu ei ben ôl) ond mae ‘na neges bwysig iawn yma hefyd, sef neges o oddefgarwch. Mae pawb yn wahanol, ac mae amrywiaeth a chynhwysiad yn beth da. Dysga’r llyfr i ni barchu eraill bob tro a pheidio bod mor sydyn i farnu.

When a new monster joins the school and starts to wreak havoc, the teachers aren’t quite sure how to react. He’s noisy, disruptive and is driving the teachers barmy!
One day, it all gets too much, and Sir reaches the end of his tether. Shortly afterwards, a 'No Monsters Allowed' sign appears and the ‘monster’ is banished from the school!
You'd think place would be much happier without the mischievous creature, but you know what? The place isn’t the same, and if anything, is a little boring. Before long, the staff and children realise how much they miss the monster, and they go out of their way to try and persuade him to come back!
On one hand, you could read the story believing that there’s a real monster parading through the corridors, but of course, the ‘monster’ could be a metaphor to describe a pupil who may not learn in quite the same way as the others.
What is important to note is that everyone has a right to an education and there’s a welcome for every child in school, regardless of their ability or needs. Everyone has different strengths, and effort, kindness and courtesy are very important traits – academic achievement isn’t everything.
There’s plenty of humour in this story (like the monster scratching his bum) but there’s also a very important message -a message of tolerance. Everyone’s different and some may have different needs, but diversity and inclusion are good things. The book teaches us o respect others for their individualism and not be so quick to judge.
Some might find £7.99 a bit expensive for a children's picture book (it’s currently on sale for £4 on Graffeg.com) However, this is a charming story to read with children up to the age of 7, at school or at home, which combines humour with that important message– that there’s a place for everyone in this world.
